Runecrafting
Runecrafting[1] is a skill in Runic Ages that allows players to craft runes using rune or pure essence at Runecrafting altars.
Essence
Essence is the main material used to craft runes with the skill. Essence can be mined from Essence Mine structures or found as ore-blobs underground in colder climates.
Rune Essence
Rune Essence is the first type of essence usable by players but can only be used to make elemental runes at altars available including Air, Mind, Water, Earth, Fire and Body runes.
Rune Essence requires level 1 in Mining to mine.
Pure Essence
Pure Essence is the second type of essence usable. It is used to craft all runes, including basic elemental runes and catalytic runes such as Cosmic, Chaos, Astral or Nature runes.
Pure Essence requires level 30 in Mining to mine and will replace rune essence once the player reaches that Mining level.
Altars
Altars transform rune essence into runes by binding the energy of the altar into the runestone. A corresponding talisman or tiara is required to craft at any altar.

Talismans
Talismans are non-stackable items used to craft runes at Runecrafting altars, and each altar has a corresponding talisman.
Tiaras
Tiaras are head-slot items craftable by players using silver bars. Normal tiaras may be transformed into an altar tiara using the talisman or the tiara on an altar if the player has both. Imbued tiaras become equipable versions of whichever talisman is bound to them and free an inventory slot for crafting runes.
