Attack is a melee combat skill in Runic Ages. Along with Strength, it increases the amount of damage the player can inflict using melee by 2.5 points per each combined Attack and Strength level and what types of weapons a player may wield.

A high Attack level means that players can wield better weapons and deal slightly more damage with melee weapons.

Gaining experience

Players may receive Attack experience during combat by pressing the R key and clicking which of the three melee skills they wish to receive XP in. All mobs give at least 25 Attack experience but specific mobs may give more or less.

Depending on how the player configures the XP split menu, XP received for Attack may also be divided to give XP for the Defense and/or Strength skills.

Equipment

A player's Attack skill determines what type of melee weapons they can wield. Higher-level weapons provide greater offensive stats than similar weapon types of a lower level, creating an incentive to keep the skill trained.

Weapon Type Attack Level Notes
Bronze 1 Weakest melee weapon type available, along with wood
Iron 10 Stronger than Bronze weapons
Steel 20 Stronger than Iron weapons
Mithril 30 Stronger than Steel weapons
Adamantite 40 Stronger than Mithril weapons
Rune 50 Stronger than Adamant weapons

Temporary boosts

Attack potions may be used to boost the Attack skill, providing a level increase of 1 + 8% of the skill.
